De dissociatieve identiteitsstoornis (DIS) en is een overlevingsmechanisme dat kan ontstaan door vroegkinderlijk trauma, wat je leven flink overhoop kan halen en je kan belemmeren in contact met jezelf en de ander. Hetzelfde geldt voor de andere gespecificeerde dissociatieve stoornis (AGDS, type 1). De ervaringen van mensen met AGDS waarbij verdeeldheid van de persoonlijkheid wordt ervaren komen goeddeels overeen met die van mensen met DIS.
'DIS is me' was van februari '22 - juni '23 een online project waarin ervaringsdeskundigen de anonieme ervaringen van ruim 100 mensen met DIS/AGDS en naasten verzamelden en deelden.
Het materiaal dat is ontwikkeld is bedoeld om meer bekendheid te geven aan (een realistisch beeld van leven met) DIS/AGDS. De vrijwilligers van het project hopen dat mensen met DIS/AGDS en naasten zich door het project(materiaal) meer gezien, gehoord, erkend en/of minder alleen zullen voelen.
Al het digitale materiaal van 'DIS is me', verzameld in PDF's, kan kosteloos gebruikt worden in psycho-educatie, (na)scholing en voorlichting vanuit het cliëntperspectief bij DIS. Het is in 2024 ook als papieren boek verschenen.
