Discover Cuba is a travel organization focused on providing meaningful travel experiences to Cuba. Our trips go beyond salsa dancing and mojito making, providing travelers the opportunity to see Cuba at her most authentic self. Through Discover Cuba, travelers can explore Cuba's vibrant culture and 500-year-old heritage, connect with locals, and empower communities shaping the island's future. Integral to Discover Cuba is its socially-responsible and ethical travel model. We believe both elements are key to a successful, meaningful, and enjoyable trip. Travelers will engage with locals by residing in guest rooms at their homes, also known as casas particulares, as well as enjoying home-cooked meals from their kitchens. In addition, Discover Cuba is also a unique social enterprise in that all proceeds from its operation go to benefit our sister non-profit organization, Raices de Esperanza (Roots of Hope). Unlike most conventional people-to-people trips available to Cuba today, Discover Cuba allows travelers to craft their itineraries according to their interests. Travelers have the option to choose set itineraries created by our Cuba travel experts, or create totally customized experiences with our insider advice. Discover Cuba has also launched My Roots, a reunification program providing financial support for individuals who want to visit their family members in Cuba and for Cuban-Americans who want to reconnect with their Cuban roots. A one-time $500 stipend will be provided to reduce the financial burdens, given that the young participants meet certain criteria. Discover Cuba is working towards expanding this program to foster traveling with a purpose, and we expect to offer grant funding for young Cuban and Cuban-American artists, entrepreneurs, and humanitarians who want to reconnect with the island in a more meaningful, project-oriented way.
