동국제약(주)은 1968년 10월 15일 창업이래 꾸준한 제품연구와 인력개발로, 오늘날의 중견제약 업체로 발돋움 할 수 있는 입지를 다져 왔습니다.
2018년에 창립 50주년을 맞이 하는 동국제약은 국내 최초의 잇몸약인 인사돌을 1978년에 처음 소개 하였고, 그밖에도, 상처약 (복합)마데카솔, 구내염 치료제 오라메디 등 우수 의약품들을 생산해 오고 있습니다. 최근에는 정맥용 마취제인 포폴이 해외에서 호평을 받으면서 국제적으로도 위상을 높여가고 있습니다.
동국제약은 92년, 제 2공장 (충북 진천군 광혜원면)에 동양 최초로 프리필드 시린지 시스템을 구축하여 각종 첨단 주사제를 대량 생산하기에 이르렀습니다. 이 부지에는 중앙 연구소와 원료 공장등이 함께 자리 잡고 있으며 원료 공장에서는 주제품의 원료들을 직접 추출, 합성하고 있습니다. 또, 94년에 완공된 제 3공장은 최첨단 설비를 갖추어 새로운 밀레니엄의 선두기업 기지로서 조금도 손색이 없습니다. 특히 동국은 중앙 연구소를 석/박사 중심으로 운영하면서 매년 매출액의 5%이상을 연구 개발비로 투자하고 있습니다.
