The Disabled Persons Protection Commission (DPPC) protects adults with disabilities, ages 18-59, from abuse or neglect through investigations, oversight, public awareness and prevention. The DPPC is an independent state agency with a mandate to protect adults with a disability who are dependent on others to meet a daily living need. The DPPC fills the protection gap between the Department of Children and Families (DCF) for children and the Executive Office of Aging and Independence (AGE) for older adults. The DPPC also works closely with the Department of Developmental Services (DDS), Department of Mental Health (DMH), MassAbility, and local and state law enforcement. DPPC comprises several units including Intake, Oversight, Investigations, Legal, Quality Assurance, Information Technology, Learning and Development, Human Resources and Finance. It also includes a dedicated State Police Detective Unit (SPDU) and its own Sexual Assault Response (SAR) team funded by a grant through the Massachusetts Office for Victim Assistance (MOVA). If you witness or suspect the abuse or neglect of a person with a disability, report it to the DPPC by calling the 24-hour Hotline at 1-800-426-9009 | TTY 711 or by submitting an abuse report online at https://dppcmass.gov/.
