Drivers for Change designs and delivers experiential learning journeys for young people.
We help them develop creative /enterprising approaches to drive placed-based social change.
Participants are 18-26 years old, from diverse backgrounds.
They are hungry to learn and motivated to create social change. Our journeys are designed to develop their skills, broaden their horizons, build their networks, and help them tackle social challenges in their communities.
In 2018, the life experience of our participants included people who had been young carers, who came to the UK as refugees or as economic migrants, whose parents had addiction issues and young social entrepreneurs.
In 2019, we will be taking 60 creative and entrepreneurial young people on an intense 10-day journey, visiting 8 cities across the UK. Cities include Liverpool, Bradford, Edinburgh, Sunderland, Birmingham, Port Talbot, Bristol and London
During the journey, we will explore the issues facing UK communities, and meet inspiring organisations and change agents (including young people like our participants) who are transforming the everyday lives of local people.
Over 20 local organisations took part in 2018 including Tai Tarian (Port Talbot), Invisible Cities (Manchester) Impact Hub (Birmingham), Mac Trust (Sunderland)
Guest speakers in 2018 included former Prime Minister Gordon Brown and actor and social activist Michael Sheen.
Our 2018 Journey was supported by PwC, the British Council, and Southbank Centre.
