DSS is een familievereniging met ambitie voor honk- en softbal in Haarlem. Dat betekent dat zowel de breedtesport als de topsport de volle ruimte krijgt. Daarvoor is een actieve verbinding gelegd met Baseball Academy The Rabbits, een opleidingsinstituut voor de jeugd.
Spelers van zowel de honkbal- als de softbalselectie vormen de ruggengraat van de vereniging. Zij spelen een actieve rol in het coachen en begeleiden van de jeugd. Van ieder lid wordt een actieve betrokkenheid verwacht bij de vereniging. Dat kan zijn als coach, maar ook in het clubhuis of als scheidsrechter.
DSS is een Maatschappelijk Verantwoorde Vereniging. Dat betekent dat wij geworteld zijn in de Haarlemse samenleving en op een actieve manier kansen bieden aan iedereen die wil sporten. Ook doen wij mee aan de ‘Jeugdsportpas Haarlem’, waardoor iedereen op een goedkope en laagdrempelige manier kennis kan maken met Honk- en Softbal.
