Stichting Ecokids verzorgt natuuronderwijs voor basisscholen in Amsterdam, zowel onder schooltijd als naschools. Onder schooltijd hebben wij een aanbod van lessen in de schoolomgeving voor de groepen 1 t/m 8 die alle Amsterdamse basisscholen kosteloos kunnen reserveren via de NME gids van de gemeente Amsterdam of via de site https://andersom.amsterdam
Wij vinden het belangrijk dat kinderen de natuur in hun eigen omgeving ontdekken. Natuur is overal, ook in een stadswijk. Door kinderen in hun eigen omgeving mee naar buiten te nemen en te laten zien wat er allemaal te beleven is, krijgt natuur een plekje in het dagelijks leven van de kinderen. Ze komen iedere dag langs het plantsoentje waar ze kleine beestjes hebben gezocht. Spelenderwijs doen de kinderen ook ervaringen op met de samenhang van natuur en milieu. Ze raken betrokken bij hun leefomgeving en gaan zich daar meer verantwoordelijk voor voelen – een belangrijke motivatie voor duurzaam gedrag.
Voor het toekomstig draagvlak voor natuur, milieu en duurzaamheid is het belangrijk dat nieuwe generaties een verbinding met de natuur ontwikkelen. Ecokids levert - door het verzorgen van natuureducatie op basisscholen - een bijdrage hieraan.
