Ed. Collective is a small not-for-profit organisation with huge ambitions when it comes to New Zealanders and education.
The world is facing an exciting period of unprecedented change in education. The idea of learners as passive receivers of information is gone (or ought to be). The world's most prestigious institutions are opening their virtual doors and doing so free of charge. Technology is connecting people and helping us create, share and learn together in ways and on a scale unimaginable even 20 years ago. There is much to celebrate. But not all of the change has been positive. The cost of traditional education continues to climb. A university degree no longer guarantees employment. Learner demands and industry needs are arguably no longer being met by systems and institutions created for another time.
Through all this change one constant remains true. Our future will depend on how we collectively create, transfer and value knowledge. How learner communities connect in this cause with industry, community, Government and institutions will shape the future of education. Ed. Collective chooses to be that connector, servant of learner communities and catalyst for learner-driven change.
Ed. Collective’s purpose is to help create 21st Century New Zealanders for the world. We imagine a future in which learners are connected with each other and with their communities in ways that enrich and support their learning experience. We imagine a time when institutions will agree to work together in the interests of all learners. We do this through advocating for strategic conversations about the future of higher education in NZ, delivering innovative student-centred services and acting as an energising force for learner communities. We work to contribute to the sector, partner with institutions and support learners directly.
Ed. Collective is delighted to be part of such an exciting time in education and we are enthusiastic about helping to shape the future.
