Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) of couples and families is a therapeutic model that puts emphasis on emotions as a leading force in people's lives. Founded in the 1980s by Dr. Sue Johnson in Canada, she has established worldwide the model as a working therapeutic approach for working with couples. Emotionally Focused Therapy brings the message that people can have happy and satisfying relationships. This is more than a just another clinically proven approach. It helps couples experience deeper intimacy and deepen confidence and sense of security among themselves. Through Emotionally Focused Therapy, people develop the ability to manage their emotions instead of letting their emotions manage them. With the guidance of a well trained ETF therapist, people learn to identify, experience, accept, study, transform and manage their emotions. As a result, they become more adept at responding adequately to emerging situations and more satisfied in their relationships.
