Empathy dinners email format

Empathy Dinners host conversations that encourage participants to really listen and empathise with people who have a very different opinion or perspective to their own. The aim is not for them to agree or change the other person's opinion, rather to understand the underlying needs they are trying to meet. Our political climate has become increasingly polarised. Ignoring, attacking or blaming people who do not agree with our opinions has become normal. Too quickly we judge those we disagree with as being stupid, insane or evil. We dehumanise them. We believe we won’t be able to solve the major crises we face globally, unless we make a conscious effort to listen to others and understand diverse perspectives, in order to find common ground and a collective way forward. We also believe that these crises are a reflection of our ways of thinking and relating to each other day to day. In other words, to change the world, we need to change ourselves. We want to create spaces where conversations are rich in diverse perspectives, full of curiosity and we all feel safe to share our opinions respectfully. And contribute to a world where empathy is cool and seeking to understand people we disagree with is normal. #dialogue #empathy #leadership #conflicttransformation
