スタンリー・キューブリック監督の映画「2001年宇宙の旅」を見たのは、45年前のことでした。
木星探査船ディスカバリー号の乗組員が、HALという名のスーパーコンピューターの反乱にあう
というSF映画でしたが、難解な内容と延々と続く不思議なシーンに少々退屈したことを覚えて
います。私は当時、大学で建築を学んでいたので、映画のストーリーよりポストモダンを感じさ
せる宇宙船のインテリアや登場人物のファッションの方に興味を持って見ていました。
最近、シンギュラリティ（人工知能が人間の知性を指数的に越える転換点）について書かれた本
を読んでいるうちに、大学生の時に見たあの映画が不思議な既視感とともに蘇りました。もしか
して、あの映画は現在を描いていたのではないかと気になり、45年ぶりに映画「2001年宇宙の旅」
を見てみました。人間が木星探査こそ行っていないものの、そこに描かれている姿は、現代を生
きる私たちそのものでした。
私たちの生活は、テクノロジーの発展とともに進化し続けています。
私たちが行なっている構造設計という仕事も、30年前までは手計算や計算尺を使い、長い時間を
かけて行なっていました。
今は、構造計算ソフトを使えばずいぶんとスピーディーに正確に構造設計を行うことができます。
これらの作業もそう遠くない日に、AI（人工知能）が行なうことになるかもしれません。
世の中の多くの仕事と同じように、構造設計という仕事もテクノロジーの進歩とともに再定義さ
れてゆくのだと思います。
私たちは、やがて訪れるそのような未来に、どうすれば社会貢献ができるかを考え続けてきました。
そして、その解として構造設計をベースとする二つの事業をスタートさせることにいたしました。
一つは、日本国内で行う建設工事業です。
将来必ず起こるであろう巨大地震による建物倒壊を一件でも少なくするため、
構造設計者の叡智の全てを建物に注ぎ込むことを決意しています。
もう一つは、2019年にアジア地域で構造躯体を流通させる『Sructure Bank』を立ち上げることです。
今後ますます発展するアジア地域において、日本の耐震基準と構造設計技術は貴重なものとなります。
それらを日本のリソースと捉え、アジアの人々に安心安全な空間を提供する『Sructure Bank』を
設立したいと考えています。
今後、テクノロジーの発展とともに、人々の暮らしもますます変わり続けるでしょう。
