From a young age I luckily realized that in this lifetime anything that I truly desired all came down to my actions. It wasn't up to anybody else to make what I wanted happen. I always knew I wanted to be an athlete. First I thought it was baseball, then I thought it was hockey, and neither of those panned out to what I expected. I could have considered my efforts a failure, or keep searching, and use the tools learned along the way. Where I ended up spending more time than anywhere was in the gym. I started training early, about 15 years old I was consistently in the weightroom, just trying to be the strongest guy on the ice. When hockey was over after highschool I spent even more time in the gym. It became my safe haven, the place where nothing else mattered. Ive been able to push myself through mental, and physical barriers that I thought I had. Limits like fears, are often just an illusion. It sounds very cliche, but training has literally saved my life. I come from humble beginnings along with a childhood that was cut very short due to certain circumstances, and the gym was my anchor along the way. Using the lessons from training I started to develop my mindset further and it was a very powerful time when I started to realize that your mind creates your reality. My goal in life is very simple. To every single day, be better than the Dayton yesterday, while inspiring others along the road. From my close calls with death I understand that tomorrow is not a promise so we must start living the life that we want to lead. Along my path I hope that when others see me let my own light shine that it gives them permission to do the same. Many may roll their eyes, and many may decide to take the inspiration and let their own light shine. Choose wisely.
