1. DCS hay Direct commercial Sales: thương vụ được tiến hành trực tiếp giữa đơn vị xử dụng của chính quyền sở tại và công ty sản xuất. Công ty sản xuất phải được phép của chính quyền Hoa Kỳ để giới thiệu, tiếp thị và tiến hành thương vụ với đơn vị thu mua hay đơn vị xử dụng. Khi thu mua theo cơ chế DCS thì việc thanh toán hợp đồng sẽ tùy thuộc vào hai bên đối tác và có thể xen vào cơ chế hoạch định tài chính cho dự án thu mua này.
2. FMS hay Foreign Military Sales: thương vụ được tiến hành giữa đơn vị xử dụng của chính quyền sở tại và cơ quan đương nhiệm của Hoa Kỳ có mặt trong nước sở tại hay Đại sứ quán Hoa Kỳ. Trong cơ chế thu mua này thì cơ quan đương nhiệm của Hoa Kỳ có mặt trong nước sở tại sẽ phụ trách mọi thủ tục xét duyệt xuất khẩu. Khi thu mua theo cơ chế FMS thì đơn vị hay cơ quan thu mua của nước sở tại sẽ phải thanh toán toàn bộ giá trị của hợp đồng chứ không thể thanh toán theo tiến độ.
3. EDA hay Excess Defense Articles: mục đích là để hiện đại hóa lực lượng quốc phòng của nước đối tác. Cơ chế này nhằm chuyển giao các trang thiết bị quốc phòng không còn trong biên chế cho chính phủ nước ngoài hoặc các tổ chức quốc tế.
