I am a #motivationalspeaker on the topics of women's #incarceration, #prison, the #justicesystem, #addiction, #mentalhealth, #secondchances, #advocacy and #purpose. I carry the labels: #success, #felon and #advocate.
Those titles are a part of who I am, but don't define me. My mission is to motivate others and share how a person or organization can still succeed despite challenging obstacles.
I was in the Federal Bureau of Prisons custody from November 2018 until February 2023. During my incarceration I found myself, purpose and the importance of advocacy. You have two options when you're incarcerated: Get better or get worse. I chose the former.
Since I completed my sentence, I have been hired by Community Action, completed an entrepreneurship course, volunteered at Minnesota Women's Prison Book Project, been selected to participate in the Wilder Foundation's Community Equity Program and joined several advocacy projects.
This is my new life. I want to share what I've learned, know and experienced with others to encourage them to avoid the mistakes I made. Life is a continuous lesson. We're all still learning. Why not learn together?
