FERTINSECT es un proyecto colaborativo lidereado por el Centro Tecnológico CETIM y GALINSECT que investiga el empleo de residuos procedentes de insectos para el desarrollo de fertilizantes respetuosos con el medio ambiente.
El proyecto surge de la necesidad de solucionar las desventajas asociadas a los fertilizantes químicos, cuyo uso conlleva la progresiva degradación del suelo, la pérdida de biodiversidad o la contaminación del agua.
El equipo de expertos de CETIM y Galinsect utiliza como materia prima principal los residuos procedentes de la cría de gusanos de la especie Tenebrio Molitor.
El proyecto se ha fraguado a través de la constitución de un Grupo Operativo de la Asociación Europea de la Innovación (AEI). FERTINSECT ha sido avalada por la Axencia Galega de Calidad Alimentaria y recibe financiación de fondos FEDER en el marco del Plan estratégico de la PAC (PEPAC) 2023-2027 que reserva fondos para la investigación en materia de sostenibilidad y productividad agrícola.
FERTINSECT is a collaborative project led by the CETIM Technology Center and GALINSECT, focusing on the use of insect-derived waste for developing environmentally friendly fertilizers. The project addresses the drawbacks associated with chemical fertilizers, which contribute to soil degradation, loss of biodiversity, and water pollution.
The team of experts from CETIM and Galinsect primarily uses waste from the breeding of the Tenebrio molitor worm species. The project has been established through the creation of an Operational Group within the European Innovation Partnership (EIP). FERTINSECT is endorsed by the Galician Agency for Food Quality and receives funding from the EAFRD (European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development) under the Strategic Plan for CAP (Common Agricultural Policy) 2023-2027, which allocates funds for research on sustainability and agricultural productivity.
