Fireless Cremation is the licensor of alkaline hydrolysis 2.0 technology for pets, labs, & humans.
Alkaline hydrolysis requires heat, agitation, & chemicals. What makes our system better than BRS's Aquamation® systems is the chemicals used, the cycle times, and the ability to complete the dissolution with no brains nor marrow remaining.
Heat: Internal, electric heaters exposed to the high pH solutions are a maintenance issue. Our electric heaters are on the underside of the system.
Water: Some systems use 1,600-2,500 pounds of water per cycle. Typically, our process uses less than 200 pounds.
pH: Bringing the pH down to neutral allows the essence to be beneficially returned to the earth.
Time: Other low-temperature systems require at a minimum 14 hours to complete a cycle. Our system completes the process in less than 5 hrs.
Chemicals: Alkaline hydrolysis does not work well at completing the dissolution process, leaving marrow and often undigested tissue and brains. Our patent pending process uses 200 proof alcohol to breakdown the fats to accelerate and complete the process.
Cost: Our systems are the most affordable. Price and performance are not correlated when it comes to aquamation systems.
Agitation: A spinning “propeller blade” or a circulating pump are often used to mix the alkali with the body. Our wave motion technology is much more efficient.
Bones: About 20% more “cremains” are given back to the family compared with Aquamation.
Effluent vs essence: Effluent is loaded with fats. A thick fat layer forms on top of the effluent, similar to grease. The systems are also coated with this waxy substance. Some wastewater treatment facilities do not want this substance in the sewer lines. We refer to liquid remains from our new process as essence - a plant bio-stimulant. The essence is highly valuable to green waste processors and farmers.
