Das Fisch-Informationszentrum, kurz FIZ genannt, ist ein eingetragener Verein, der 1997 von Unternehmen und Verbänden der deutschen Fischwirtschaft gegründet wurde. Zu den Gründern gehören die Hochseefischerei und Fischindustrie, der Fischgroß- und einzelhandel sowie die Fischgastronomie.
Das FIZ übernimmt die firmen- und produktübergreifende Öffentlichkeitsarbeit für diesen Wirtschaftsbereich. Im Mittelpunkt steht dabei die informierende, aufklärende und beratende Kommunikation mit den Medien und Multiplikatoren. Das FIZ ist die Anlaufstelle für Fragen jeglicher Art zum Thema Fisch.
Bei der Umsetzung von Themen und Beantwortung von Fragestellungen wird das FIZ von zahlreichen Experten aus der "fischwirtschaftlichen Praxis" unterstützt und kooperiert mit Spezialisten aus Forschung und Wissenschaft.
Ziel des FIZ ist es, den Stellenwert von Fisch, Krebs- und Weichtieren sowie der Produkte hieraus weiter zu erhöhen und ihre Bedeutung für eine zeitgemäße und gesunde Ernährung noch mehr herauszustellen.
