The idea behind FlowChar is to combine two processes:
1. Renewable heat and power generation from the syngas from biomass gasification
2. Clean water production with flow-electrode capacitive deionisation (FCDI) of brackish or seawater
The main objective is to develop the power, heat, and desalinated water polygeneration system based on renewable resources and aligned with the principles of the circular economy.
The project „Flow electrodes from biomass-derived char” received funding under the Small Grant Scheme 2020 competition announced by the National Centre for Research and Development in the frame of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014-2021.
The project will be implemented from 1.10.2021 to 1.10.2023 by the scientists from the Silesian University of Technology (Project Promoter).
The Principal Investigator is Ph.D. Agnieszka Korus.
The total cost of the project is 878 750 PLN.
The project will be implemented the following contract No. NOR/SGS/FlowChar/0062/2020-00.
