Créée en 1999 grâce à une donation des frères Odon et Jean-Daniel Vallet, la Fondation Vallet a pour vocation d’aider les jeunes méritants et de situation modeste à poursuivre leur études en leur attribuant des bourses. Sous l’égide de la Fondation de France, la Fondation Vallet est la plus importante Fondation privée au monde en matière de bourses d'excellence.
En 21 ans, la fondation a remis 68 000 bourses en France, au Bénin et au Vietnam et plusieurs milliers d'anciens lauréats sont diplômés des plus grandes écoles ainsi que des universités européennes et américaines.
Elle construit également des bibliothèques et s’engage par ailleurs pour améliorer la santé et la formation des détenus au Bénin. Son réseau de bibliothèques au Bénin est le plus grand réseau d'Afrique francophone dépassant un million de lecteurs l'année.
