TalentCastr was a mobile / webcam enabled on-demand online video interviewing enabled virtual campus recruiting service and US / Canada / United Kingdom / European Union ecosystem of campus Diversity-oriented, Consulting, Investment and Entrepreneurship clubs and Consulting, Marketing and Venture Capital firms that increased the geographical reach, diversity and inclusion, and time / cost efficiency of campus recruiting efforts.
In addition to enhancing the reach and effectiveness of firms' talent acquisition operations via an automated online video enabled case interviewing platform, TalentCastr allowed organizations to crowdsource strategic insights and innovations from MBA students, non-MBA graduate students and undergraduates via online and offline case competitions.
In 2010, TalentCastr worked alongside the One Laptop per Child Association (OLPC), the IXL Center for Innovation and Excellence, and the Hult International Business School Consulting Club in launching the first Global Case Challenge, attracting MBA students, non-MBA graduate students and undergraduate students from top universities and colleges across the globe.
Since 2010, the Global Case Challenge event has grown into what has been described as “the world’s largest crowdsourcing platform for social good”.
While it was a great first-time startup and learning experience for many involved and moreover a great deal of fun and source of positive memories, I (Michael Angelicola - the Founder) failed to adequately monetize the venture quickly enough to support the desired management team despite their gracious and impactful impact efforts and as a result, sunsetted the venture in 2010 and while painful at the time, I am grateful for the experience and perspective gained for the team and myself and will apply this to future ventures.
