VOM ARBEITSKREIS ZUM VEREIN – 50 JAHRE ENTWICKLUNG
Fortis e. V. ist aus dem im Jahre 1971 gegründeten Arbeitskreis „Resozialisierung“ hervorgegangen. Der Verein ist Mitglied im Diakonischen Werk Württemberg. Der frühere Name lautete „Sozialer Arbeitskreis im Landkreis Böblingen e.V.“.
Die Wurzeln des Vereins liegen in der Straffälligenhilfe. 1974 wurde In Gärtringen die erste betreute Wohngemeinschaft eröffnet. Zwei Jahre später wurde das Sindelfinger Wohnkolleg als Übergangseinrichtung für Menschen mit psychischer Erkrankung in Betrieb genommen.
Anfang der 1980er Jahre übernahm Fortis e. V. weitere Aufgaben wie die Beratung, Versorgungsangebote und betreutes Wohnen für wohnungslose Menschen.
2004 wurde die Martinshöhe Böblingen eröffnet, eine Einrichtung für psychisch erkrankte Menschen mit Abhängigkeitserkrankung, die sowohl in den Gemeindepsychiatrischen Verbund im Landkreis Böblingen als auch in das Suchthilfenetzwerk eingebunden ist.
2006 erfolgte die Umbenennung in FORTIS – Für Orientierung, Teilhabe, Integration und Solidarität. Der neue Name ist Ausdruck unserer Leitgedanken, die unsere Arbeit beschreiben.
2022 feierte Fortis e. V. das 50-jährige Bestehen.
