Frigesco™ is a young company that is set to revolutionise the defrost process in all freezer applications worldwide with an elegantly simple yet highly efficient and innovative system. The potential energy savings from adopting the system in supermarkets alone ,worldwide, amount to £2.5bn per annum.
The Frigesco™ Defrost System has already been awarded a “Highly Commended” and came second in the annual RAC Cooling Industry Award for best Refrigeration Innovation of the Year 2013
Since 2011 the company has developed tested and fitted the Frigesco™ Defrost System -into a cold room and a retail display cabinet, both units demonstrating remarkable improvements in energy efficiency. The retail display cabinet installation was independently tested by leading industry test organisation, Refrigeration Developments and Testing Ltd. The results of the test,showed a 40% reduction in total energy consumption in the unit fitted with the Frigesco™ Defrost System.
The company is now commercialising the walk-in cold room defrost system. The first in store trials are scheduled to start in January 2014.
Development of a Retail Display Cabinet version has just commenced and is the subject of a Department of Energy and Climate Change Energy Entrepreneurs Fund award of £145k. Frigesco is one of 19 companies selected to receive funding in the latest round out of 130 applicants.
