Gaines Advisory is an international strategic advisory and board consulting and board search firm. Gaines Advisory recognises that successful organisations bring together sound strategy, governance and talent. We work with board and executive leaders to ensure the strategy is shared and robust and incorporates contemporary ESG principles. We assist boards recruit Chair, Non Executive Director and executive talent, conduct board reviews to identify opportunities to improve board performance and executive performance, and advise on board remuneration.
Our clients include listed and private companies, government agencies, mutuals and cooperatives, indigenous organisations, not for profits, charities and philanthropic organisations, education and research bodies, peak bodies and arts and sports organisations.
Gaines Advisory was formed in 2020 by Alison Gaines, a professional board consultant and board recruiter, who was joined by her sister Jo Gaines, an influential public policy strategist. Both principals are also active Non Executive Directors and spend most of their time as consultants and independent directors in boardrooms.
Both principals are graduates of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and of the AusIMM Professional Certificate ESG and Social Responsibility.
Alison established her international board practice in 2006 and was CEO of an international boutique search and consulting firm, leading offices in Perth, Sydney, London and Houston. She has degrees in law, public policy and international politics and is an INSEAD Certified Director. Jo was for many years Deputy Chief of Staff to the Premier of Western Australia and Leader of the Opposition. She holds degrees in politics and occupational safety.
