Mare gastouderbureau is begonnen als oppasbemiddelingsbureau in de regio Den Haag in 2004 onder de naam Koba (KinderOpvang Bemiddeling en Advies). In januari 2005 werd Koba officieel geregistreerd en daarmee een erkend gastouderbureau. In dat jaar is Koba begonnen met gastouderregistraties door heel Nederland. In 2008 groeide Koba uit tot het grootste gastouderbureau van Den Haag. In juli 2012 veranderde Koba haar naam in Mare gastouderbureau.
Mare vindt een persoonlijke benadering erg belangrijk. Alle inschrijvingen worden met zorg behandeld. De eventuele referenties van de gastouder worden gecontroleerd. Mare let erop dat de gastouder aan de door de overheid gestelde opleidingseisen voldoet en in het bezit is van een geldige Verklaring Omtrent het Gedrag en eventuele meerderjarige huisgenoten ook. Ook controleert Mare de opvangplek op veiligheid en hygiëne. Gastouders moeten zich aan het pedagogisch beleidsplan van Mare houden. Twee keer per jaar controleert Mare of de gastouder zich aan de gemaakte afspraken houdt.
Mare zorgt zo nodig dat gast- en vraagouder(s) elkaar vinden en controleert of beide partijen tevreden zijn (in de regio’s Limburg en Brabant).
De medewerkers van Mare staan altijd klaar om advies te geven en een helpende hand te bieden. Gast- en vraagouders zijn vrij om met elkaar afspraken over zaken als uurtarief, werktijden en opzegtermijn te maken. Mare beschikt over standaard contracten, die kunnen worden gebruikt om de afspraken in vast te leggen.
