Geo-Media Analytics is a research initiative that aims to understand the influence of general trends on individual decision-making by analyzing Twitter data, and how the tweets were affected by socioeconomic, cultural and political factors across various granular levels of cities and counties. Through natural language processing of tweets from 1M+ Twitter users, we create meaningful data for specific needs.
A simple application could be analyzing how receptive a company is to the general populace of a city. To achieve this, we have developed a data-mining algorithm that automatically locates, compiles and collects twitter users in a specific location. Then, we run sentiment analysis and topic modelling algorithms for the last 5,000 tweets about a company to understand and provide important business insights for various functions and sectors of the industry.
The highly granular geographic resolution of our datasets is currently unprecedented within the realm of easily accessible social media data. Our alpha version will be ready to roll out in Spring next year. Further updates about our next stage will be posted.
