GETOB ( Güney Ege Turistik Otelciler ve İşletmeciler Birliği ) 13 Ocak 1987 yılında “Marmaris Turistik İşletmeler ve Konaklamalar Derneği” olarak 44 üye ile kurulmuştur. Türkiye’nin önemli turizm merkezi olan Marmaris ve çevresinde bulunan otel işletmecilerinin bir çatı altında toplanması ve turistik gelişim yaratmak yolu ile bölgenin ve ülke turizminin gelişmesine katkıda bulunmak, üyelerimiz ile iletişimin sağlanması, sorunlarına eğilme, otelcilik yönünde bilinçlendirme, pazarlarını geliştirme, kurumsal niteliği gereği kendi çevresi içinde ve ulusal bazda etkin tanıtım ve pazarlama stratejilerini takip etmek amaçlanmaktadır.
Turizm sektörünün ve bölgemizin önde gelen ve saygın bir konuma sahip olan GETOB, TÜROFED (Türkiye Otelciler Federasyonu) bünyesinde on altı (16) bölge kuruluşundan birisi olarak Dalaman, Ortaca, Köyceğiz, Marmaris, Datça, Ula ve Muğla merkez Menteşe ile bir yandan bu merkezlere bağlı Sarıgerme, Dalyan, Akyaka, Çamlı, İçmeler, Turunç, Hisarönü, Bozburun, Selimiye, diğer yandan Mesudiye, Palamutbükü ve Knidos’tan oluşan birbirinden güzel ve birbirinden özel bölgeyi kapsamaktadır. GETOB, 15 kişilik yönetim kurulu, 3 kişilik Denetleme Kurulu üyesi, bir başkan ve üç başkan yardımcısı, Genel Sekreter, Sayman, ofis müdürü ve sekreterya ile organizasyonunu tamamlamış disiplinli bir kurumdur.
