The Global Forest Observations Initiative (GFOI) coordinates international support to improve the capacity for forest and carbon monitoring in tropical countries.
Through collaborative action, GFOI partners support countries with creating forest monitoring systems that inform their national decisions and international commitments, as well as track progress in climate action.
The GFOI is a partnership of countries and international organizations. The initiative is led by government representatives from Australia, Germany, Norway, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the United States of America, as well as organization representative from the Committee on Earth Observation Satellites (CEOS), the European Space Agency (ESA), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the World Bank.
