Grounded Curiosity is dedicated to the professional development of military personnel across all ranks and experience levels. We seek to promote discussions that will best prepare our people for the future.
Grounded Curiosity is partitioned into five main sections:
1. Blog. Grounded Curiosity provides a space for military members to share ideas and to learn from each other. We are particularly focused on helping junior leaders publish their thoughts and we also publish established writers.
2. Opportunities. This section provides a library of practical information on professional military development opportunities including a Prezi on the profession of arms network, how to apply for scholarships, upcoming events, tips for military writing in a public forum, and memberships.
2. Innovation. Grounded Curiosity is proud to partner with the Defence Entrepreneurs Forum Australia (DEFAUS) – an innovation forum for junior leaders. DEFAUS aims to inspire, empower and network. Scroll through this section to find information on DEFAUS and idea pitches.
4. Strategy. Grounded Curiosity partners with professors from the US Army School of Advanced Military Studies to unlock strategic security issues.
5. The Bookshelf. Grounded Curiosity partners The Bookshelf for book reviews and insights.
The Australian military is built on its people. In acknowledgement of this, Grounded Curiosity seeks to start a conversation with junior leaders about our future in warfare to help strengthen our collective intellectual foundations. It is this culture of professional curiosity from the ground-up that underpins our adaptive action, mission command, and critical thinking. And it is these conversations that Grounded Curiosity seeks to help.
Finally, while our aim is to spark discussion about our profession of arms, a secondary aim is to provide an example of a blog by active service members that remains within the bounds of professionalism, information security, public comment, and courtesy.
