From Guimarães to the world. This is the starting point of the “Guimarães Marca” project. Through this program of affirmation and promotion of the economic and cultural fabric of the municipality, promoted by the Economic Development Division, the Municipality of Guimarães intends to spread the “Guimarães Marca” seal across five continents, anchoring this objective in the vast business fabric of the region. The initiative starts with a wide range of companies that have been associated, from the first moment, with the “Guimarães Marca” project.
The group of companies that joined the initial phase of the project is characterized by being prestigious organizations, with a leadership position in sectors such as home textiles, footwear, cutlery, clothing and cardboard, at national level, and which, in their Most exports 90 percent of the product. In the medium to long term, the objective is for the project to bring together many of the 3,000 companies installed in the region. Adherence to the project will be subject to registration and validation, which will privilege solid companies that comply with social, inclusive and sustainability duties. The aim is to establish this international promotion program associating the territory of Guimarães with an industry of excellence and a cultural heritage classified by UNESCO. As coordinator, Guimarães City Hall will have the mission of supporting the project, giving shape, managing the activities agenda and promoting the “seal” at the international level, being present in some of the main international fairs related to the most important sectors. In turn, the adhering companies start to use the seal, which includes a QR Code that refers to the opening video of this website. In this way, they will contribute to promoting the territory internationally.
