Urfa Birecikli Hamdi Arpacı 1960’lı yılların sonuna doğru İstanbul’ a geldi. Eminönü Yeni Camii’nin yanında bulunan otoparkın köşesinde ilk tezgahını açtı…Bir küçük ızgara ve seyyar tezgahı ile 7 yıl boyunca esnafa ve gelen müşterilere leziz kebap çeşitlerini sundu.
Gün geçtikçe müşteri sayısı artan Hamdi Usta, aynı otoparkın köşesinde Hamdi Et Lokantasını kurdu.18 yıl boyunca hizmet verilen bu mekânda, Güneydoğu bölgesinin benzersiz lezzetteki kebaplar otantik özellikleri ve hazırlanış biçimleri korunarak müşteriye sunuldu.
Restaurantın bulunduğu yerin önce 3 katını sonra diğer katlarını da alarak, şuan bulunulan 5 katlı mekân oluşturuldu. Yine aynı otopark’a bakan bu yerde yalnız çevre esnafı değil, turist kafilelerine, iş yemeklerine ve sıra gecelerine ev sahipliği yapılıyor. İstanbul’un eşsiz manzarası; Galata, Eminönü, Sultanahmet, Boğaz… Mekânın etkileyici tasarımı…320 kişilik konuk ağırlama kapasitesi ve 105 çalışanı ile aranılan bir mekân olmuş Hamdi Restaurant. Güneydoğu sofrasının temel özelliklerini İstanbul’a başarı ile taşıyan Hamdi Usta, ilk günkü lezzeti hep koruyup, hizmet anlayışını her gün geliştirerek bugünlere gelmiştir.
