Havaali is an independent magazine; The whole concept of Havaali is to reconnect with the spaces/places that we often use, and to shed light on the overlooked influences or aspects of that space. We aim to gain a more thorough understanding of these places, with a relatively new approach called slow-journalism. Each issue contains narratives of people's lived experiences of a certain place (namely bus terminals, cemeteries, stadiums, dormitories, bridges, hospitals, the abandoned spaces etc.).
We try to amplify diverse and marginalized voices, from women, men, non-binaries, kids, adults, the young, the elderly, the disabled, short-term users, long-term users, etc.
حوالی، از فضای زندگی آدمها میگوید. فضایی که زنده است، و با آدمها ساخته میشود. بر ما تاثیر میگذارد و از ما تاثیر میپذیرد. فضایی که حاصل دیدن، شنیدن و تجربه کردن است. ما میخواهیم این تجربهها را به اشتراک بگذاریم و به حوالی خود نزدیکتر شویم.
ما میخواهیم حوالی هرکسی جای بهتری برای زندگی باشد.

«حوالی» مجلهای است دربارۀ آدمها و محیط اطرافشان. محیط اطراف میتواند شهر، خانه یا مقیاسهای کوچکتر و بزرگتر از اینها باشد. در هر شمارۀ حوالی، یک فضا (مثل ترمینال، قبرستان، پل) محوریت دارد و تمام محتواها، حولِ همان عنصر فضایی تولید میشوند.
این مجله در کتابفروشیها و کیوسکهای مطبوعاتی توزیع میشود. گروه تولیدکنندۀ مجلۀ حوالی، پیش از این، مجلۀ دانشجویی «شَهرَت» را در دانشکدۀ شهرسازی دانشگاه تهران منتشر میکرد.
فعالیت این گروه برای تولید مجلۀ حوالی، از تابستان 96 آغاز شد. در پاییز 97 موفق به اخذ مجوز مجله از وزارت فرهنگ و ارشاد اسلامی شد و شمارۀ اول این دوماهنامه در اسفند 97 با موضوع «حوالی ترمینال» منتشر و در دسترس مخاطبان قرار گرفت
