We are a non-profit organization dedicated to making the world a healthier place to travel. We award scholarships to doctors and nurses in countries where travel medicine is an emerging specialty to improve healthcare where you travel.
OUR STORY
Our story started in Rome in 1960, when a seriously ill Canadian traveller was referred to Dr. Vincenzo Marcolongo by a colleague who did not speak English. This incident inspired Dr. Marcolongo to establish IAMAT and make the medical needs of travellers his life’s work.
From the outset, IAMAT's goal was to make the world a healthier place to travel.
Today, we are continuing our founder’s mission by awarding scholarships to doctors and nurses from countries where travel medicine is an emerging specialty. We are proud that donations from our supporters allow us to award scholarships in the spirit of our founder’s vision.
