L’Initiative des Femmes Entrepreneurs pour le Développement Durable, IFEDD en sigle, a vu le jour en date du 09 juin 2016, en réponse aux défis auxquels ont face la communautés vivant dans et autour de sites minière, les jeunes ainsi que les enfants dans et autour des sites miniers artisanaux de la région au Kivu, notamment : la pauvreté, la problématique du chômage et/ou sous-emploi, le manque de prise en charge et d’encadrement efficient, la dépendance économique et financière, le manque de capital pour le financement des projets, les discriminations et violations des droits humains, etc... L’IFEDD œuvre dans le secteur humanitaire et du développement durable et se donne comme principale mission influencer et promouvoir le respect des droits humains dans et autour de sites miniers. Sa vision est base sur une bonne gestion des ressources naturelles en tenant compte des besoins de développement communautaire et la protection de l’environnement au niveau local et national, voir même dans la sous-région des Grands-Lacs.
