Introduction:
When we were children we all used to love playing with kites. At the age of 8, I saw the kite of my friend tangled in the overhead line. When he was pulling back he got electrocuted and lost his life in a second. Later in life, I found that many farmers, people in rural areas and cattle were losing their lives due to electrical shocks. Therefore, I was motivated to become an electrical engineer. I started a Social Enterprise named ILLA Enterprises with the main goal of improving electrical safety and therewith saving lives. We have planned save and safe electricity camps to promote renewable energy. I found a problem in my state name Telangana which is recorded as one of the highest in fatalities caused due to electrical accidents in rural areas especially farmers.
We are solving this problem by conducting Safety Awareness Programs to farmers by visiting each village of various districts of Telangana State. We also involve the local authorities such as Village Sarpanch, Mandal & District Officers, Local Political Leaders, etc. who can convince the farmers to follow the safety precautions and also purchase the shock-proof genuine electrical equipment. We also demonstrated the same to Mr G. Jagadish Reddy, Power Minister, Telangana Government. It is also well appreciated by community leaders and government authorities which makes us confident about the success of this project.
