India has a total of 645 tribes across various states. They depend on the forests for their daily needs of food, medicine, and shelter. Many of the methodologies and livelihood practices followed by the Indian tribes have withstood the test of time.
Our mission is two-fold: take natural and organic forest-grown products to the urban areas and ensure that the tribal people make adequate earning in doing their traditional work.
The urban markets are full of mass-produced products with unknown sourcing. We have realized the perils of rampant industrialization and westernization. Both the environment and their bodies are getting clogged with pollutants and toxins. There is a huge growth in the cases of lifestyle diseases like diabetes and cancer. People want to go back to their roots. People world over are looking for authentic products that are not laced with chemicals and pesticides.
The raw material of tribal-made products is sourced from the clean and unpolluted forests of the country. The tribes use their own indigenous methodologies that their forefathers used for making their products. They also keep in mind the overall environment and try to ensure that their production does not leave a huge carbon footprint in their environment.
There is, therefore, a huge rise in the number of small traders in the cities who sell organic products directly sourced from non-urban areas. The pricing of these products is not standardized and it sometimes goes very high.
The tribes, however, find it difficult to find just buyers for their products. They are often exploited by the middlemen. The middlemen do not give them just compensation for their labour and knowledge.
