As the coronavirus pandemic has forced classes online, teachers have lost much of the in-person interaction so integral to classroom lectures. Physical cues used to check for understanding and to check if students are paying attention — such as the raising of hands, nodding of heads, and posture of students — are virtually nonexistent.
