The Transition Towns Movement is a grass-roots, decentralised global grassroots organisation, launched in 2007 by a group of British people with a background of permaculture and social activism.
It started from the observation of problematic realities in the overall human society and created a model of response to them, a set of community-oriented, scalable / applicable practices in both urban and rural areas, starting from current sustainability practices (permaculture, applied ecology, current economic and social alternatives).
