Who are we?
We are Join the Pipe Australia, a social enterprise with the dream of a world where everyone has access to safe drinking water.
The Problem
Due to poor infrastructure and services, 768 million people around the world do not have access to safe drinking water. That is approximately 1 in 10 people. Drinking unsafe water often results in diseases and can be fatal. Unsafe drinking water not only has an impact on health, but also on people’s ability to work or study.
At the same time, in parts of the world where people do have access to drinking water, such as here in Australia, a lot of valuable drinking water gets wasted. We often take it for granted that our tap continues running and tend to forget that water is a scarce resource, here and elsewhere.
Our Solution
Access to safe drinking water is a principal human need. We therefore raise funds for water projects in Papua New Guinea through the sales of our specially designed reusable bottles and carafes. The bottles represent parts of the longest water pipeline in the world - bringing water to those with no access, and symbolise as a reminder that access to water is not a given.
