دانشکده فنی دانشگاه تهران، قدیمی ترین مرکز آموزش مهندسی در ایران است فارغالتحصیلان این مرکز علمی و فنی بخش عمده ای از کادر فنی کشور را تشکیل می دهند و از آنجا که تشکل آنان به لحاظ ارتقای سطح حرفه مهندسی از اهمیت ویژه ای برخوردار است کانون مهندسِن فارغالتحصیل دانشکده فنی دانشگاه تهران از فارغالتحصیلان این دانشکده که اساسنامه آن را بپذیرند و در راه تحقق اهداف آن آماده خدمت باشند، تشکیل میشود.
کانون مهندسین فارغالتحصیل دانشكده فنی دانشگاه تهران انجام تعهدات اصولی زیر را رسالت خود میداند:
1. گسترش ارتباط و تداوم و تحكیم پیوند و همبستگی بین دانش آموختگان دانشکده فنی دانشگاه تهران از یك سو و با دانشكده فنی از سوی دیگر به منظور ایجاد انگیزه و بستر مناسب برای رشد خلاقیت و دانش و فرهنگ مهندسی اعضاء و توسعه و ارتقاء سطح علمی دانشكده فنی دانشگاه تهران.
2. کوشش در جهت اعتلای شأن و منزلت حرفه مهندسی و تلاش در راستای شکل گیری و توسعه نظامها و تشكلهای مهندسی كشور و تشكیل و تقویت كانون مهندسین ایران .
3. كوشش در جهت رشد و شكوفایی و اعتلای صنعت و اقتصاد كشور و مشاركت در فرآیند تصمیم سازی و ایفای نقش هدایتی، نظارتی و نقادانه نسبت به ، طرحها وبرنامههای توسعهای و پیشنهاد طرحهای ضروری و زیر بنایی بر پایه نیازهای جامعه و همكاری همه جانبه در جهت توسعه پایدار كشور.
