De KNAC (Koninklijke Nederlandsche Automobiel Club) is sinds de oprichting in 1898 een club van en voor autoliefhebbers. De hoofddoelstellingen van de KNAC zijn in de kern nog dezelfde als die van 1898: het behartigen van de belangen van de automobilist en het laten genieten van de auto als fenomeen in alle aspecten. De KNAC heeft ruim 14.000 leden en voelt zich verwant met de pioniers uit de beginfase van de auto. Dat geestelijke erfgoed wordt gekoesterd en is vertaald naar een bijzonder pakket producten/diensten en pechhulpverlening voor autobezitters.
In 1904 heeft de NAC (toen nog niet koninklijk), samen met 12 andere clubs, de Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) opgericht met als doel wereldwijd de autosport en de belangen van de automobilist te behartigen en te coördineren voor de diverse landenclubs.
De KNAC geeft een eigen (club)magazine uit sinds 1904 onder de naam ‘de Auto’ dat alle leden 8 x per jaar ontvangen. Sinds begin 2013 wordt dit magazine i.s.m. CARROS uitgegeven.
