KOKO has been at the heart of Camden’s vibrant culture for over 120 years, and that legacy continues with the KOKO Foundation, a registered charity committed to changing lives and creating transformative opportunities Since launching in 2022, in partnership with Think & Do and Camden Council we have planted over 300 trees across 14 council estates and 25 schools – including 179 edible fruit trees. Over 2,000 young tree whips have been donated at community events, and we’ve contributed to an estimated 40% of new trees in Camden.
A growing team of residents aged 16-25 are employed as our ‘KOKO Foresters’, creating new career pathways and instilling a lifelong love of nature. We provide the tools and training they need to become custodians of their environment, and it’s a privilege to see how they blossom through our work together.
In music, we have created multiple music bursaries to provide opportunities for disadvantaged children to experience the transformative power of music. We have run three songwriting academies in partnership with Ivor Novello Award winner Sacha Skarbek, and will be expanding further into music and film in the future.
Our work wouldn't be possible without the incredible network of internationally acclaimed artists, business leaders and industry experts who are integral to the protection and growth of the Foundation. Ambassadors Benedict Cumberbatch and Olivia Colman are joined by patrons including Dua Lipa, Stormzy, and Riz Ahmed, chaired by Elisabeth Murdoch. An impressive board of trustees includes Olly Bengough, Jane Featherstone, and Ammo Talwar MBE.
Through meaningful partnerships with those who share our vision we are truly making an impact – and this is just the beginning. We will continue to cultivate greener, climate-resilient urban environments and forge creative pathways for young people – not only in Camden, but throughout our city, and beyond.
