Die sechs Lehrstühle der Kunststofftechnik Leoben verstehen sich als universelle Ansprechpartner. Dem Leitbild „Vom Rohstoff bis zum fertigen Produkt“ entsprechend, werden Dienstleistungen von der Chemie der Kunststoffe über die Werkstoffphysik und Werkstoffprüfung, das Konstruieren in Kunststoffen und die Kunststoffverarbeitung bis zum praktischen Einsatz von Kunststoff-Bauteilen und dem Recycling angeboten.
Neben Forschungs- und Entwicklungstätigkeiten ist die Kunststofftechnik Leoben auch ein wichtiger Ausbildungspartner. Viele Kurse werden in Zusammenarbeit mit der Industrie angeboten. Die wichtigsten kunststofftechnischen Fachbereiche entlang der Wertschöpfungskette sind in das Ausbildungsprogramm der Studienrichtung Kunststofftechnik integriert.
