THE LAAUGHING BUDDHACIRCA 1975. Mysore. Amidst the August torrential downpour a ray of sunshine was born to the Kumars. As he looked brave from the day he was born they named him Prathap. Prathaps childhood was spent amongst the cool climes of Mysore where he schooled and readied himself for facing the world. He equipped himself with a Bachelor degree in business administration and was all set to do masters and join the rat race. This was when an incident changed Prathaps perspective forever. He was stricken with a serious stomach ailment and the pain and weakness that followed the recovery made him seek out Natural Remedies.Call it destiny or free will this search led Prathap to Vatsalyadham an ashram focused on holistic and ‘wholistic healing where the difference between curing and healing an ailment was taught learnt practiced and internalized. Under the grace of his mentor who was ‘Swamiji to all Prathap learnt the tenets of Shiatsu which simply means ‘the finger tips. Prathap was barely a teenager when he was blessed with swamijis grace and he graduated.After completing his stay under his gurujis instructions it was decreed that Prathap go and serve the community. Prathap joined the Sampoorna Kranti Vidyalaya an ashram devoted to Gandhi and his principles of swayamseva sevadaan karmayoga and dharmapuja. As Prathap now fondly recollects ‘I hated the heat of Surat couldnt speak Gujarati and my first assignment was to clean toilets for six months.Its been a decade since I left the ashram. I cant wait to go back again. Amongst other things Prathap learnt to spin the chakra and wore what he wove cook holistic food and this added to his knowledge and practice of Shiatsu to combine into a potent all round healing mechanism.Prathap then was invited to the UK to set up his practice and spent the next decade healing individuals families and groups. While his stay there he also picked up some more skills and discipline of various other Natural Therapies which he incorporates and practices now. Prathap soon grew to be widely regarded as one of the few Shiatsu practitioners who could do a prognosis diagnosis and treatment all with a feel of his fingers. He is also a certified Reality Therapist which is an alternate modality to the main stream clinical Psychiatry. As his life progressed Prathaps heart yearns for the spiritual land of India. He left everything that he had and moved back to India. Where he is going to be based for rest of his life as part of his spiritual covets. He has devoted his life to work for the better society thus contributing to a better tomorrow.He realized that the Shiatsu he practiced was far more potent in the Indian sub continent.As Prathap puts it its easier to heal Indians because they have learnt the wonderful art of surrendering to the divine and it is this 5000 year old culture that allows Shiatsu to manifest itself far more effectively in India than in other countries. If the universe is invited to do its work then we must open our arms in acceptance without blocking it by doubt and uneasiness.Prathap is passionate to heal and teach his craft. His dream is to touch every soul he comes across and discover the true connection and purposes of ones life.Prathap doesnt prefer writing too much about what he does.
