LATEST UPDATE (20-05-2021): Due to COVID-19 crises, the LactaPure lab-crew have seized their development activities since the lab has been shut down. We are keeping our minds open and are looking to find alternatives way to continue. LactaPure is working towards developing a filtration technology that which can selectively filter out antibiotics from breast milk, without interfering with any of the healthy and natural components. In 2018 we reached a proof of concept and are now optimizing the technology in Skylab at the Technical University of Denmark. WHAT WE ARE SOLVING: When breastfeeding women are prescribed antibiotics after childbirth, most of these antibiotics are transferred to the child through the breast milk and they can be very dangerous to the health of the sensitive infants. Recent studies link antibiotics to serious and costly conditions such as asthma, allergies and diabetes. Yet breastfeeding is recommended by the World Health Organisation. Currently, there are no products on the market which can remove the antibiotics from the breast milk. But LactaPure is about to change that. ACHIEVEMENTS: • (2018) LactaPure moved into laboratory facilities at DTU Skylab and are addressing questions of opimization. • (2018) LactaPure won the Danish Foundation of Entrepreneurship's special event "To kolde fra Kassen, tak!" at Folkemødet receiving a small grant. • (2018) LactaPure reached a proof of concept - the technology works! • (2018) 1st Runner-Up in the VIA University College Innovation Prize receive a small grant. • (2017) LactaPure were finalist in Venture Cup's National Startup Competition (DK). • (2017) Recipient of a small grant from the Danish Foundation of Entrepreneurship • (2016) The LactaPure filtration techology idea won the category “Health” in the case competition Dean’s Challenge at Aarhus University. LactaPure become a member of NSI Startup Factory at the Department of Engineering at Aarhus University.
