In den nächsten Jahren entsteht unter Federführung der Brandenburgischen Technischen Universität Cottbus-Senftenberg in Cottbus ein Wissenschafts- und Technologiestandort mit internationaler Strahlkraft und Relevanz für den Standort Deutschland.
Der Lausitz Science Park wird im Endausbau auf 420 Hektar entstehen, in direkter Nachbarschaft zum Hauptcampus der BTU. Die Hochschule bündelt Spitzenforschung und Transfer auf internationalem Niveau und schafft dadurch ein interdisziplinäres Innovationsnetzwerk sowie einen exzellenten Wissenschafts- und Technologiestandort.
Im Mittelpunkt des umfangreichen Industrie- und Forschungsansiedlungsprojektes Lausitz Science Park stehen große Themenbereiche, die sich an den vier Profillinien der BTU orientieren: „Energiewende und Dekarbonisierung“, „Gesundheit und Life Sciences“, „Globaler Wandel und Transformationsprozesse“ sowie „Künstliche Intelligenz und Sensorik“. Diese verbinden als Innovationsschwerpunkte Wissenschaft und Wirtschaft.
Die Strukturwandelprozesse bieten hier eine einmalige Chance für die Region, gemeinsam mit Partner*innen sowie Vertreter*innen aus Politik, Wirtschaft, Wissenschaft und Gesellschaft auf Bundes-, Landes- und kommunaler Ebene die Lausitz beherzt, geschlossen, partnerschaftlich und zielorientiert in eine richtungsweisende und nachhaltige Zukunft zu führen.
