Ludologie? "Was ist das?" Biologie, Psychologie und Philosophie kennen alle. Nach der Gründung unseres Instituts für Ludologie an der SRH Hochschule für Kommunikation und Design (design akademie berlin) guckten wir zum Teil in viele fragende Gesichter. "Was macht ihr?" Andere waren wegen einer angeblichen Doppeldeutigkeit peinlich berührt. Spieler und Gamer bekamen große Augen. "Hey, super, spannend, endlich!"
Lateinisch "ludus", das Spiel und das griechische "logos" für die Lehre, führt zur "Lehre über das Spiel", Ludologie, zur Spielwissenschaft.
In den letzten Jahren wurde der Fokus der Spielwissenschaft auf das digitale Spiel gelegt. Daraus ergaben sich Fragestellungen rund um die Themen Gameplay (Spielmechaniken), Game Design, Lernspiele, virtuelle Welten, Künstliche Intelligenz oder auch die Wirkungsforschung, die danach fragt, welche Einflüsse von Computerspielen ausgehen.
Wir betrachten das Spielen als eine kulturprägende oder gar kulturschaffende Komponente. Was können wir von den Spielen oder mit Spielen in oder für andere Disziplinen lernen? Unser Anspruch umfasst einen transdisziplinären Forschungsansatz.
Diesen Anspruch setzen wir momentan schon in verschiedenen Forschungsprojekten um. Dabei haben alle Köpfe des Instituts jeweils sehr eigene brennende Forschungsfragen und spezifischen Herangehensweisen.
