For centuries the Pato family has been involved in wine business and started to put Bairrada on the map. More than 30 years ago Luis Pato went off with a suitcase full of bottles of Baga and other indigenous grape varieties from his well beloved vineyards. Open minded sommeliers, importers and wine aficionados were blown away through these terroir driven wines from an unknown region with even more unknown grape varieties! The future for these indigenous grapes looks assured, the heritage of old vines will be maintained and the Rebel's spirit will go on!
Há vários séculos que a família Pato está ligada ao mundo do vinho na região da Bairrada. Há mais de 30 anos, Luis Pato levou a sua mala cheia de garrafas de Baga e outras variedades autóctones das suas vinhas e deixou atónitos escanções, importadores e enófilos curiosos com reflexo real do que a região podia oferecer aos seus vinhos: frescura (graças à influência do Oceano Atlântico), fruta (do solo argilo-calcário, em meia-encosta das pequenas montanhas à volta de Óis do Bairro), elegância e delicadeza (da fermentação e do estágio em carvalho, usado de forma equilibrada), e com um grande potencial de envelhecimento. Hoje, o futuro das castas autóctones parece assegurado, o património das vinhas velhas será mantido e o espírito do rebelde prevalecerá.
