The Sustainable Maritime Coalition seeks to leverage the analysis of key stakeholders and partners to focus on actions at the federal government level. We are a nonpartisan coalition of organizations with the objective of accelerating the development and deployment of the infrastructure and fuels that will enable a net-zero maritime industry by 2050.
The Sustainable Maritime Coalition seeks to include members and supporting companies within the shipping industry across the U.S., including fuel developers and suppliers, technology experts, ports, and thought leaders within the clean energy ecosystem. These members, in combination with Coalition staff, can build a campaign to drive change.
The Coalition aims to increase the accessibility and adoption of sustainable maritime fuels and related infrastructure by increasing focused attention by Congress and the Executive Branch. Our mission is to work with the Executive and Congressional branches to advocate for funding and legislative action to support the decarbonization of maritime vessels and operations through efficiency, new fuel and energy sources, and technology integration. This will position the U.S. to meet the IMO’s targets of cutting emissions in the maritime industry by 20%- 30% by 2030, 70%- 80% by 2040, and net zero by 2050.
