Many startups are familiar with the accelerator program concept - infuse specialized knowledge and experience in a quick and deep way, much of it which would typically take years to accumulate. Do all this all while continuing to build the business, ensuring the knowledge has relevancy and immediate impact. Create a network of valuable and likeminded individuals in order to draw on successes and learnings. This is the same concept we use with each of our cohort members, with the goal of leaving them with the confidence to sit at the executive table as one of the key players that will drive a startup’s success.
The program takes place over a year and, at it’s core, consists of weekly one-on-one coaching sessions, virtually sitting side-by--side with each of the cohort members. These sessions, of up to 90 minutes, focus not only on the marketing priorities at hand but also purposely explore areas of growth for the member. Time is also set aside for an in depth, annual marketing planning exercise. Cohort group work is also part of the program including a Masterclass session that kicks over every stone that a B2B marketing executive should be focused on. Monthly group chats allow the cohort to confidentially share their successes and challenges with each other and a dedicated Slack channel allows for sharing in between.
All of our cohort members share similar traits. They generally have a background or degree in business, commerce, arts or engineering. They are systems thinkers with a high social IQ. They possess strong leadership and communications skills and have a strong appreciation for the art of sales. And most importantly, they have be recognized for their potential to not only shine in a marketing leadership role but to sit at the executive decision-making table in the near-future as a peer. Our cohort members come in from different starting points as well: as an existing executive, as someone currently in the marketing role and as a recent hire.
