MatBiM is een sectorgedragen BIM-standaardisatie-initiatief voor en door actoren uit de bouwsector.
Initiatiefnemer van MatBiM is de federatie van Belgische bouwmaterialenproducenten (BMP), met de steun van de beroepsfederaties Embuild Vlaanderen, Buildwise, NAV en ORI, en met verschillende toonaangevende bouwmaterialenproducenten als drijvende krachten.
MatBiM omvat uniforme, merkneutrale BIM-content én een wegwijzer naar betrouwbare en eenduidige informatie over specifieke bouwmaterialen en -systemen, rechtstreeks van bij de bouwmaterialenproducenten.
MatBiM heeft als enige doel de efficiëntie van de bouwsector te verhogen. Dit doel bereiken we door bouwmaterialenproducenten en bouwprofessionals digitaal te verbinden en BIM op een efficiënte manier inzetbaar te maken. Als gevolg kunnen betrouwbare bouwinformatiemodellen op een vlotte manier tot stand komen, met een grote impact op de volledige levenscyclus van het gebouw en alle stakeholders die daarbij betrokken worden. Zo wordt BIM een ware troef.
